“In 2011, Ogun State was rated number 35 in the business and security index, but with your input it has improved to be among the first four states in Nigeria in terms of doing business,” the Governor said.

Earlier, the state PCRC Chairman, Alhaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, had praised Amosun and the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, for their efforts in fighting crimes and making the state secured for business activities.

While praising the government, Olaniyan said that Amosun had shown his commitment in ensuring security of the state through his administration’s policy.

“I wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to our leader and father, the number one citizen of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for his unwavering commitment to ensure that citizens of this state go about their normal duties unmolested,” he said.

Olaniyan further said: “Our governor remains the best security friendly governor in the country today.  Prior to his assumption of office seven years ago, we know where we were then and where we are today.”

“Our governor has created the enabling environment for PCRC to succeed in this state,” he also said, while adding: “Today, it is uncontestable fact that the PCRC of Ogun State remains the reference point in the country, now leads while others follow.”

Olaniyan, who praised Iliyasu, stressed that the state had become one of the best and most secured state for business and human dealings through his doggedness and commitment.

The PCRC boss charged members and residents of the state not to relent in their efforts to provide information to the police for good service delivery.

Iliyasu, however, described the PCRC as a unit that needs to be properly utilized and charged the inducted members to take security and policing with due diligence.

“Through studies and practical personal experiences, I have come to term that you cannot police a people who do not accept you,” Iliyasu said, adding that “It is mandatory for anyone toeing the highway of successful and landmark policing to engage the people in a participatory policing.”

He further stressed: “The PCRC has been there for some decades now, but has not been fully harnessed.  I discovered the PCRC to be a conglomerate of men and women of potentials with visions and missions, but we were only handicapped by the low drive.”

“I saw this window opportunity, then and now I was sure that if I can only give my unwavering support and commitment as a drive and motivation to the untapped potentials within the PCRC, it will not take time before the world celebrates our style of policing,” he also explained.

Iliyasu maintained: “The onus lies on us to educate and sensitize the people especially the new volunteers that have just decided to join PCRC that supporting the police is your civic responsibility.”
