Killings: Dajuma charges Nigerians to defend themselves, indicts Armed Forces

NIGERIA: EX-DEFENCE Minister, General Theophilus Danjuma, has urged Nigerians not to depend on the military for the safety of their lives and properties, but to do all within their ambits to defend themselves.

Danjuma, a one-time Chief of Army Staff, accused the nation’s armed forces of colluding with armed bandits to kill Nigerians.

According to him, instead of protecting fellow citizens the men in uniform have been helping in “facilitating the movement of bandits to kill Nigerians.”

Danjuma, who spoke at the maiden convocation of Taraba State University in Jalingo where he donated N100 million to the university’s sports complex, urged Nigerians to defend their territories, saying that “if you are depending on the Armed Forces to stop the killings, you will all die one by one.”
Apparently a visibly angry ex-Minister said: “In this state, and, of course, in all the riverine states of Nigeria, we must resist. We must stop it.  Everyone of us must rise up.”

“The Armed Forces are not neutral, they collude, they collude with the armed bandits that kill people, kill Nigerians.  They facilitate their movements, they cover them,” he stressed after he was conferred with honorary doctorate degree of the university.
Danjuma further stressed: “If you are depending on the Armed Forces to stop the killings, you will all die one by one.  The ethnic cleansing must stop in Taraba State, it must stop in all the states of Nigeria, otherwise, Somalia will be a child’s play.”
“I ask everyone of you to be alert and defend your country, defend your territory, defend your state. You have nowhere else to go, you have nowhere else to go.  God bless our country,” he said in an apparent indictment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in tackling the killings in the country.
